Adroid 2.0 is also known as Android Donut. This is one of the early released versions of the mobile Android operating system. The 2.0 platform brought various new features for both users and developers.
New features for users include the following: Ability to add multiple accounts for email and contact synchronization. There were also updates to facilitate an easier way to view and sort through contacts such as clicking on a contact’s picture and then select to either call, text, or email that contact. The update also allows you to view emails from multiple accounts from one page. There is now a search functionality for saved SMS and MMS messages and you can set a limit of number of messages in a conversation so the oldest ones can be deleted. They beefed up the camera and abilities quite a bit by adding: Macro focus (to be able to take a picture of things close up), various color effects, white balance variability, scene selection mode, digital zoom settings, and built-in camera flash support. The Android virtual keyboard was improved as was the browser. You can now search in addition to navigate to a url right in the address bar. Bookmarking using webpage thumbnails makes it easier to remember what site is the one you saved that you are now looking for. Double tap zoom was added to ease zooming on the internet and support for HTML 5 was added. The calendar was improved also.
As far as the new platform technologies for developers are concerned, the Bluetooth was upgraded to Bluetooth 2.1 for improved wireless transmission. The graphics architecture was improved for better performance which allowed for better hardware acceleration and a better user experience; The faster, the better! The Android 2.0 platform also includes many new developer APIs for all you developers out there.
