Recently Blaze Europe announced the release of the Neo Geo X, an officially licensed handheld version of the original Neo Geo console with 20 licensed games preinstalled such as Fatal Fury, King of the Monsters, Metal Slug and The King of Fighters ’94. It is supposed to come out sometime in the 2nd quarter of 2012 in Europe first. It seems to great resemble an iphone 4 or 4s as you can see in the photo below:
This portable gaming console is very similar to the Playstation Vita but much more expensive. It will, however, boast a 3.5″ screen, sd card slot, and a to-be-expected a/v output to be able to play on a television or other device, stereo speakers, and of course a 3.5mm headphone jack so you don’t bother everyone around you with your mad gaming skills. We are unsure as such things as battery life on standby and while gaming, exact dimensions, and weight but we assume that it will be just like an iPhone in many ways.
The complete lineup of the Neo Geo X games are the following:
– Art of Fighting
– Baseball Stars
– Cyber Lip
– Fatal Fury
– Fatal Fury Special
– Football Frenzy
– King of the Monsters
– Last Resort
– League Bowling
– Magician Lord
– Metal Slug
– Mutation Nation
– Nam 1975
– Samurai Shodown
– Sengoku
– Super Sidekicks
– The King of Fighters ‘94
– The Ultimate 11
– Top Players Golf
– World Heroes
SNK has created some really loyal fans over the years even though they haven’t released a system in quite some time and are banking on the fact that many of those fans will pay the premium price. They also hope that the 20 preloaded “old” games will help people justify the high price.
There are currently no emulators for this system but stay tuned because there will be soon we are guessing because not very people will want to pay the premium price for this normal gaming system.
